Sweet, Free Avatar Duds!

Microsoft has been hyping that they are releasing free pieces of avatar clothing, and the first batch has arrived! Once you log into XBOX Live, your avatar will have four new pieces of clothing. That’s right; Microsoft in all it’s generosity has awarded their faithful with a hat, a coat, boot and a pair of gloves for use with their avatars. Hit the jump for screens and a quote from the Major.

The next time you sign in to Xbox LIVE, be sure to check out the new winter items just released for your avatar. All of the items are completely free, so try them all on for JUST the right look.
That's it? You've been hyping one hat, one coat, one pair of gloves and one pair of ugly boots!?!
Tip: It is easy to tell what is new when you are in the avatar editor, just look for the gold star. Any item of clothing with a gold star is new since your last sign in.

Pictured above are all of the newly available items:

  • A Ski Hit
  • A Ski Jacket
  • New Boots
  • Snow Gloves
  • So was this worth all the hype? Or are you still holding out hope that M$ releases some clothing that doesn’t suck, for free?

Thanks Kevin for posting something, you seem to be the only one doing so lately.

Thanks for noticing! The more that people submit news items they care about, the better pulse I will have on what my readers want to hear.

1.The ease of which avatar duds are created.
    2.The current avatar duds available.

These two things do not match up.

I personly hate avatars ( being old and all that)
Just wondering how long before they start charging for this garb(ige)

    I’m 27.
I don’t ‘need’ Avatars, but I do sorta appreciate having a face associated with my online name.

And I expect as soon as EA adds some custom duds, money will be involved.

I just bought that arcade golf game on Live during the black weekend sale or whatever. They charge like $2 for an outfit on there. People must be dumb enough to spend money on them. Microsoft will follow suit I’m sure.

Ok so my launch day 360 died today (boo) so i decide to play on my laptop for a while and well to cut a long story short i ended up robbing the 256mb of RAM from my old packard bell laptop and put in in my newer toshiba.
My question is, and bare with me because i no nothing about this type of thing.
Although my tosh seems to have registered the new memory, (when i pull up the system info
its showing 760MB of RAM) will my tosh actuly use it and more over will it make any difference to its performance??

If you’re using Windows XP it should. I don’t know about the older OSes. If it’s showing the RAM, then it’s at least recognizing it. It should work as long as you grounded yourself before playing with the insides of your lappy and you heard the clicks/snaps when you inserted the ends of the stick.

Keep in mind, though, that’s still not a lot of RAM. :P It wouldn’t be as noticeable as if you went from 512 to 2048.

agreed, do invest in a 2 gig stick, its less than 100 for a 200 pin for some laptops, at least it is at RadioShack :)

Comment by dogeggs on 2008-12-05 18:05:58

Yes i know, just having a fun 5mins, you see i like to take things apart :)

Comment by AugustusBot on 2008-12-05 18:13:44

RadioShack? Is that place in business still? Overpriced junk imo.

www.newegg.com for all computer component needs. they even have xbox live 1 yr subscriptions for 38.99$. Costs 60$ if u buy it on ur xbox.

Comment by Veritas on 2008-12-05 18:17:13

I… didn’t even know Radioshack sold memory sticks.

Dogeggs, keep at it, taking things apart and putting them back together is how great things are made. :D

What does this have to do with Xbox and avatar clothing?

I wanted to read comments from people bitching about the lame ass winter “collection”. :)

If I wanted to read a laptop help thread, I’d go elsewhere.

Well, what do you know…now I’m going elsewhere…lol
