New Gears of War 2 boss unveiled, plus DLC news
The November 7 release date of Epic’s sequel to the 2006 Xbox 360 hit, Gears of War 2, is fast approaching and the hype train continues to pick up steam following the recent release of new screenshots from the single-player campaign, the reveal of the game’s General RAAM replacement, and new DLC details.
During Cliff Bleszinski’s recent visit to the UK, the boss that will take over the role of sending shivers down your spines throughout the campaign was finally revealed. Described as the Samurai of the Locust, the Skorge looks like a cross between a Predator and a Locust, with a dual-chainsaw-bladed staff firmly held in one hand. According to AddictGaming.com, the Skorge will be a playable character in the multiplayer, but will be heavily scaled down to keep the game balanced.
Moving on, a forum user on Evil Avatar reports that the latest issue of GamePro reveals a bunch of new information, including the fact that Epic plans to offer five returning multiplayer maps – Gridlock, Subway, Canals, Mansion, and Tyro Station – to anyone who buys a brand new copy of Gears of War 2. This is obviously targeted toward those who favour used copies over pricier, new ones, giving them no option but to shell out sixty bucks for the game, that is assuming they want the original Gears of War maps of course.
Lastly, the GamePro issue also touches on the game’s photo editor, saying that it’s only accessible through spectator mode or when you die in a multiplayer match. The sequel won’t ship with a full-blown photo editor, though, as more features will be added after the November launch.
Comment away in the usual place!

GOW vs Predator…
Exactly what i was thinking
Resistance 2 and Gears 2 all in one week… can’t wait. Gears 1 had better multiplayer, RFoM had a better single player campaign.
I expect the sequels to be the same.
see I heard nothing but negative stuff regarding resistance, and must admit that it seemed like a carbon copy with the way it was marketed. Wouldn’t mind having a go.
I hope there will be more variation with the single player in GoW2. I got bored of the SP, even with the whole cog tag thing.
I can’t wait to plant my first proximity grenade - Gears Of War with sticky Claymores… Awesome!
Really hope the game engine lets you plant them in some really devious places… like the top of a doorframe / chokepoint (e.g. the boomshot archway in GridLock).
And don’t even get me started about the flame-thrower, 4 player co-op, movable shields, meat-shield, and chainsaw duels.
This is going to be a winter to remember!
Agreed
4 player? I thought they sticked with 2…
It gets better, recent news suggests that up to 5 players can go co-op in the new horde mode.
Where is the info on 4 player campaign co-op??
yeh im sure they are stickin with 2 player coz
They are definitely sticking with 2-Player Co-op. The way I like it.
Whoever told you that, obviously lied =).
It’s THE game coming out, going to be a perfect 10 bitches!
No 4 player co-op, only 2 which is a shame but hey-ho, plenty of other goodies in the bag.
And I REALLY hope they don’t go to UT3’s awful push-to-talk chat to minimise b/width usage now it’s 5 vs 5…
yeah that’s gay (the talk thingy). btw i like gears better when its 2 player coop.
Push-to-talk will kill this game like it killed Halo3. PTT is a cop-out used by incompetant developers. If Epic still hasn’t figured out how to efficiently program their netcode, they seriously need to give up on life. I knew this game would be a fucking mess just like the first one.
I think you’re mistaking Gears for Mega Man 9 here, or something. Gears is a stellar title for the 360, but then I keep forgetting, you don’t actually LIKE games. So why bother?
