just grabbed this… didn’t know what to expect as i didn’t follow the development or news about it… but it was an instant purchase (once the trial came to a conclusion at the second boss)… very kool… definitely wanna try it online… should keep me entertained for a few hours at least! :)

My impressions are that this game costs 1200pts and it’ll be too short and too shit to ever justify this price no matter howm many indie devs moan about putting in two years worth of work and no matter how many fucktards whine about people not supporting the indie community by not buying short, shit Flash games put out by grasping indie dev shylocks.
Those are my impressions. Not even worth downloading the demo. Bring on Duke Nukem, a game well worth 1200pts even with the shit graphics from years back.

As with great minds, shit ones also think alike.

Karma rules.
Castle Crashers sucks.

Comment by Scots Dude on 2008-08-27 11:52:36

Castle Crashers looks and feels great to play. Though 1200 points is far to expensive for such a title. Just like Braid. 800 points would have been a fair price. 800 points each for Braid and Castle Crashers. Are you listening Bill Gates? Also on the subject of Duke Nukem 3D I think this should also been priced at 800. 400 points for retro and 800 points for new games. Microsoft need to restructure there pricing in regards to xbla titles.

Hail to the King Baby!!

Comment by StGermain on 2008-08-27 12:32:25

I second that!

Comment by tony on 2008-08-27 14:59:00

Bill Gates doesn’t work for Microsoft no more.

Comment by MoD Gunslinger on 2008-08-27 20:30:20

You are just waiting for someone to believe you and make an idiot out of themselves, yes?

Comment by tony on 2008-08-27 21:38:28

no what i mean is he doesn’t work full time there anymore. If you don’t believe me search it.

Comment by MoD Gunslinger on 2008-08-27 23:26:48

Of course he doesn’t work there full time anymore, his company is so friggen huge (and he himself has so much money) that he doesn’t need to work there, or anywhere else for that matter lol…

Comment by Veritas on 2008-08-28 05:13:51

Bill Gates resigned as the head of Microsoft. He’s focusing on humanitarian efforts now.

Comment by subty on 2008-08-27 18:11:19

So 800 points ($10) is fair, yet 1200 points ($15.00 is “far to expensive”. In my world if I enjoy something $5 is a small price to pay. While I do agree continually raising the price point sets a bad precedent, these game companies are in the business of making money. If they make a good game that is popular and most importantly profitable, they will make more. If I can get a couple hours of enjoyable game play out of an arcade game (such as I did with Braid) than a $15 price tag is not unreasonable.

Comment by Ali on 2008-08-27 15:14:31

Whilst I agree 1200MSP is big jump from 800 I’ll reserve judgement until the Summer Of Arcade is over and we revert back to ‘normal’ releases (which is from next week as this was the last title in that series).

Might be the case that these few were bumped/hyped and the price point will revert to 800? If not then that’s a bit sad but hardly daylight robbery; in the UK 1200 points equates to around £7.50 (via Tesco Entertainment online if buying 2 x 2100 Cards and using the FreeDel code) so if a game is great, has replay value blah blah then for the same price as a premium lunchtime sandwich & stupidly expensive designer ‘coffee’ you get hours of unbridled gaming pleasure. Sounds like good value to me.*

* - note these are London prices at the time of writing. Inflation may render them inaccurate by the time you read this.

Just seems like now almost every new title will come out at 1200 instead of 800. The game better be very good and long enough to be worth 1200. I bought Galaga Legions at 800 but I doubt I would have at 1200.

Comment by Neolibertarian on 2008-08-27 18:23:56

Guys,

Put this in perspective. $15 is what you’d pay for a case of beer or a movie with popcorn. So if any game is more fun, or just as fun for a longer time than either of those options, then it’s worth it.

Comment by MoD Gunslinger on 2008-08-27 20:31:50

That doesn’t make it right.

Comment by Veritas on 2008-08-28 05:15:18

Make what right? Charging $15 for a game that would cost even more buying from a store?

Comment by MoD Gunslinger on 2008-08-28 10:29:10

It doesn’t make it right that they raise the price as they please. Sure, right now you pay 10$ for a game, soon $15 will be the norm… Whatever, right?

But, it won’t stop. If they get away with this (and they will, there is nothing we can do about it), then in a year or so when we forgot there ever was 800 point XBLA games, they raise the price again.

It’s the principle of the thing, I’m no cheap bastard, I can afford this, but like I said, it doesn’t make it right.

Also, I replied to Symbiot’s post a little further down that agrees with it, which directly contradicts what I say here. There are many sides to this story.

Comment by Veritas on 2008-08-28 13:51:28

If it ever got so high as $20 sales would suddenly drop off. Some may buy, but the majority won’t pay that much.

There are still plenty of 800 point titles around.

Comment by mass9 on 2008-08-29 22:11:48

“….It doesn’t make it right that they raise the price as they please.”

but don’t you realize, THIS is the very basis of a free market economy.

Comment by StGermain on 2008-08-27 20:45:11

So, I just played the demo… how is this game different from the 15 year old game Golden Axe (which incidentally is available on xbla for 400 points) except for the shitty graphics?

Comment by justin on 2008-08-27 21:12:53

I only get $15 a month in allowance. No way!

Comment by ETHAN COLE 1 on 2008-08-27 22:52:46

I work, at minimum wage, Yes Way!

Comment by Steve Perry on 2008-08-28 01:28:44

You write like Ryan Sheckler talks!

Comment by Veritas on 2008-08-28 05:15:59

Why do you know who he is?

Comment by KRiSX on 2008-08-27 23:37:05

wow… stop complaining… if you can’t afford an extra couple of $ then poor you… don’t cry and whinge about it

i don’t like the price, but i’m enjoying the game… so who cares!

Comment by Symbiot on 2008-08-28 00:12:39

Yeah wow…. I can understand not wanting to pay 1200 for some crappy random game, but I gave this a shot and I’m definitely buying it.
$15 for a 4 player co-op beat em up that looks and plays awesome? What’s the problem with that?
I’ve said it before… If they sold this on a shelf with a pretty green box, everyone would think it’s a steal, but since it’s on the arcade, everyone whines.

Comment by MoD Gunslinger on 2008-08-28 05:09:15

I agree, even though it contradicts what I wrote earlier lol.

Comment by darren on 2008-08-28 08:12:29

well if you continue to buy games at 1200 points, then they will keep coming at that price point.it is easy to see braid and castle crashers are just a microsoft experiment for higher prices in the future!so thank yourselves for helping to increase the costs of downloadable games. And dont be surprised when xna games come out at 800 points!

Comment by darren on 2008-08-28 09:30:27

@symbiot please explain the lack of sales alien hominid suffered before becoming an xbox live arcade title!

Comment by Steve Perry on 2008-08-28 14:50:03

I’m glad I didn’t buy Golden Axe back along, as this is just like it only about 3 times better.

Comment by darren on 2008-08-29 00:44:41

3 times better than a game nearly 20 years old wow a must buy!

Comment by darren on 2008-08-29 00:45:45

take me back to 1989 when this level of simplicity was exceptable!

Comment by Veritas on 2008-08-29 02:30:47

Oh, wait, I guess it would be now.
