Initially expected for release in Fall 2007, Midway’s new racing intellectual property that stars Vin Diesel, The Wheelman, is now scheduled to come out in the first quarter of 2009. So as to give you a taste of what the game is all about, a Midway representative recently showcased the game at GC 08 in Leipzig. Check out a three-part video walkthrough of the game after the jump.

It can easily be seen that The Wheelman is not the kind of driving game that the Gran Turismo fanbase would approve of, as it is clearly targeting the type of audience that is into the Need for Speed games and the like. The Hollywood-type, over-the-top nature of the racer is nicely portrayed by non-stop action, the use of “melee” moves, and of course the cyclone maneuver that sees your car spin 180 degrees, giving you a good opportunity to send a few enemy cars flying into the air. Also, it’s good to see that there will be on-foot missions throughout the game which should provide a nice break from all the wild driving.
