Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 rumoured again

Back in April, the Australian ratings board OFLC gave hope to the many enthusiastic gamers who want a sequel to Geometry Wars by rating Retro Evolved 2. MyGamerCard has now given them yet more hope by publishing a list of Achievements for the game.

Will we be seeing more of this in Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2?

The list that MCG published contains 12 Achievements which sum up to 200 Gamerscore Points. This means that if these are the game’s Achievements, then Retro Evolved 2 will be another XBLA title. However, as of the time of writing, there has still been no official announcement and as such, this is being marked as a rumour for the time being.

Geometry Wars, which was one of the first XBLA games, has been a hit with both the critics and gamers. Scoring 86 on Metacritic, it is certainly one of the higher ranked Arcade games. With the excellent price tag of only 400 Microsoft Points (or about $5 in a monetary value) and addictive gameplay, is it any wonder that Geometry Wars was such a hit?

Actually I wouldn’t be surprised to see a 1,200 price tag given that it’s almost guaranteed to be a hot title.

Yeah, apparently they wanted to make geometry wars free, but MS said no. So 400 was what they could negotiate i guess.

Only if your exam requires you to shoot different geometrical shapes.

Interesting how they come up with a game that we all played in various forms over 20 years ago, and they call it “evolved.” I guess that means the future of video games is sitting in your local Gamestop bargain bin right now.

If I want to play CRAP like this I’ll fire up my Vectrex. THX N E WEIGH!

Fuck off troll.

There’s a well thought-out reply. But not surprising coming from someone whose life’s work is to give e-fellatio to everyone working in the video game industry.

Skid ShitHut, you are as dependable and as welcome as a wet day in Scotland.

Although this game borrows elements from classic games, it’s far more than just a rehash of Robotron or SmashTV, which are probably the two games it really has the most in common with.

If you can’t tell the difference, you’re opinions regarding video games, women, beer and all things fun are even more worthless than previously suspected.

For the sake of our entire species, please ensure your parents use contraception from this point forwards.

Kid Outhouse only exists on here to troll as much as possible. So as I said before fuck off troll.

I’m watching Kultivator’s posts just to see what new names he makes up.

big surprise, ShitHouse doesn’t like something.

speaking of e-fellatio, here comes mass9 to rub up on my nuts some more!

There’s a well thought-out reply. But not surprising coming from someone whose life’s work is asking if people would like fries with their value menu meal deals.

Keep working hard ShitHouse, and one day, maybe you’ll hit that magical $9.00 an hour mark.

Is copy-and-pasting my reply the best you can come up with? I hope you’re more clever than this while chatting with your “girlfriend” on Second Life…

Technically speaking, Galaxies for the Wii and DS was the sequel to Geometry Wars. it had more features than the original and had more than one level.

Why isn’t Geometry Wars 2 coming to the WiiWare service? It’s not like it’s owned by Microsoft, since Galaxies was made for the DS and Wii.

Personally I’d like to see GW Waves come to the arcade for 400 points. For those who don’t know, GW Waves appeared as the hidden arcade game in PGR4 (much like GW Evolved was the hidden game in PGR3).

I loved the original, and I’ll gladly buy the newest one. I think the original is (unfortunately) still the best title on XBLA.

Comment by KultiVator on 2008-07-04 07:57:34

I’d second that - great game that I still go back to when I need some instant gratification.

Comment by Toxic on 2008-07-07 01:59:49

Hopefully it will be or include Geometry Wars: Waves
