Microsoft Gamers Day 2008 leakage
It appears Microsoft just can’t keep a lid on its top-secret stuff and as a result of this incompetence, the things that are meant to see the light of day on a special occasion get leaked to the interwebs beforehand. The latest one to come about is the leak of Microsoft’s announcements and media assets for tomorrow’s Microsoft Gamers Day 2008, prematurely unveiling a couple of sequels, a bunch of never-before-seen screenshots of Banjo Kazooie 3, and more.
Thanks to some uninformed Microsoft employee who accidentally posted all the categories for tomorrow’s announcements as well as game media on one of Microsoft’s press sites, we now know what that secret project Rare has been working on undercover actually is … you guessed it, a Viva Piñata sequel, titled Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise. That’s not all, as the silly mistake on Microsoft’s part also revealed that Scene It? 2, new game called Ninja Blade, and another new title called Lips, purportedly a new accessory or a karaoke game (we’ll see tomorrow), are all on the way for the Xbox 360.
Though all the assets have now been removed from the press site, some people from NeoGAF Forum managed to snap a number of screenshots for Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise just in time before they evaporated. Feast your eyes on them below.
Moving on, it’s been known for some time now that many of the details that fans of the upcoming Banjo Kazooie 3 have been craving for will finally be revealed at tomorrow’s MGD08. However, before you get all the nitty-gritty info on the cuddly companions’ new adventure, you can peruse away as many as seven new screenshots that recently leaked their way to the intertubes below.
Taking a quick glance at all the screenshots, one might think the new entry in the Banjo Kazooie series could turn out to be a racing game and we would pretty much concur if it weren’t for Rare confirming with Eurogamer that that is not the case:
“We haven’t revealed the gameplay mechanic yet. It’s not a racing game, and people are honestly better off waiting until tomorrow when we are going to be talking about it extensively before drawing their own conclusions.
The honest truth is that people don’t know the half of it yet. The game is not just a graphical showcase.”
Wait until tomorrow is what the Rare folk recommend and that’s what we’re going to do. Obviously, that doesn’t mean you can’t post your own ideas in the comments section below. Our bet’s on the rumoured motion-sensing peripheral having something to do with the gameplay mechanic. Oops, there goes our little promise …

Go Banjo Kazzoie. I’ve been waiting for this game for the past 7 years only a little longer….
Oh yeah man! The first game I picked up with my N64 was Banjo-Kazooie and I played it so much. Yeah I was alittle late getting to the party when the 64 came out, lol.
all i got is one word Conker
Seconded, sir.
I third that
It LOOKS like RARE has put some of it’s legendary skills into BK3.
I really don’t think there’s any chance of them screwwing this one up.
Bring it!!
first time I think I agree with you! I admit also that I am looking forward to this - puts a bit of fun back into the old box…
Can’t wait for VP2 looks amazing! In fact both games look awesome, looks like 2008 is going to be a vintage year for gaming.
Thirded.
At Last!! VP2!! Yess!! my little girl is gonna be made up, she loves viva and has played it every week for nearly 2 years, bring on the new animals!!! lol
according to Kotaku - this game is very much vehicle based as can be seen in the shots, the twist is that you can create & change your own vehicles at will, much like buliding lego blocks or dare I say it, Little big planet!
Or if you want to imagine gummi ships from kingdom hearts. This news sorta put me off the title, but still.
wow you’re still here…
Viva Pinata 2 will keep my daughter occupied for some time also. She’s still playing it as well.
Couldn’t care less about BK. That’s strictly for the platformers and the Nintendo wannabes. Give us more hardcore action! Less of this cutesy pish.
thats why the hardcore guys get too human and gears2 along with all the multiplatform games.
You’re an ignoramus of massive proportions.
I had a problem with leakage once too. Damn Olestra chips.
Maybe MS needs to wear adult undergarments.
its hard to wash it out
