New Line to take on Gears of War
Though we may never see Halo on the big screen thanks to financial concerns at Universal and Fox, another one of Microsoft’s biggest franchises may soon gear up for a live-action film adaptation. According to entertainment industry news source, Variety, the rights to produce a film based on the Gears of War franchise has been auctioned off.
Who won the rights to make the film? New Line. The Gears of War script treatment was 21 pages written by Stuart Beattie, who has previously contributed his writing efforts to Pirates of the Caribbean, Collateral, and several others. Two producers are on board with the project, Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey. Beyond that the details are not yet known, no director has been announced and of course not a single actor cast.
But that doesn’t stop us from creating our own Gears actor wishlist, right? Hmm… let’s see. You can’t go wrong with Dominic Purcell (”Prison Break”) as Marcus Fenix. Dom could be played by Franky G (”Saw II”), actor Terry Crews (”Everybody Hates Chris”) is a shoe-in for Augustus Cole, and Neal McDonough (”Band of Brothers”) for Baird. Who would you like to see take on these roles?
Aside from the movie’s cast (if it even makes it through the production process), there is something to worry about. New Line’s track record as of late has been tarnished by their dumping of fan-favorite director Peter Jackson from J. R. R. Tolkien’s “The Hobbit” film adaptation. This along with their recent airing of dirty laundry concerning that franchise has proven to be disheartening to many fans. Which begs the question of whether or not New Line is capable of handling one of Microsoft’s most beloved franchises. Can the same studio responsible for the Lord of the Rings franchise, Nightmare on Elm Street, Blade, and many others handle the task? What do you think?

Jhon cena as baird, cole is taller than that, iono about that marcus guy, but jhon travolta sound cool, that dom kid looks 2 quiet maybe the rock would fit in better. jhon cena and the rock are not good actors so was shwarzenegger.

Neal McDonough as Baird is fucking perfect. He could totally pull off the arrogant asshole role. Dominic Purcell kinda looks like Marcus, but I don’t think he looks gritty enough… Franky G would be good if he grew out his facial hair. Terry Crews just doesn’t have enough hair. =P
I still want to hear John DiMaggio as the voice of Fenix; they should make it a CG movie, live action is goning to be lame.

Sean would make decent comic relief, terry tate is fucking cole, so how can you go wrong? Russell Crowe is just perfect for this role, and for Dom you just need someone you feel you can’t on in a war.

If they make it CG then def. keep the same voice actors. But if they make it live action i say….
Marcus-Dave Batista, because in all honesty i think he looks like him and his voice is kind of similar at times

Baird- Neal McDonough….he just looks perfect for the role, he kind of looks like him and could most likely pull off the cocky smart ass that is Baird.
Cole should be played by Terry Tate. He played his voice and watch his youtube videos and you will all agree with me. Ryan Reynolds should be Baird. Oded Fehr as Dom. and i dont know who should play marcus. Batista maybe… that is what i heard they were gonna do. I hope this movie doesnt suck.
